On June 12, the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency has given approval for us to commence user operations on the Sika cold-neutron 3-axis spectrometer. User experiments approved following the last Program Advisory Committee meeting in May 2015 can now be scheduled. This brings the number of operating neutron beam instruments at OPAL up to eleven.

Sika was originally funded by the National Science Council of Taiwan and built by the National Central University of Taiwan. Currently, the neutron group of the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center operates the instrument.
